Outscetched how to do this. Count folders, and have a bootstrap tracker with values min 0 max(how many folders in vendor) and get the current number trough $ajax=status&substatus=x

I am fairly certain this will work. Alternative would be to run a full check on how many files, but lets keep it fairly simple.

Depending on tests, I could perhaps do something like this:

$phfiles = new FilesystemIterator(__DIR__, FilesystemIterator::SKIP_DOTS);
echo iterator_count($phfiles);

So, if I truly know the count of files (After testing) I can get a more suitable answer. It would validate better then just counting the folders.

Depends on how long it takes to run it though.

Alternatively, I have now a Composer.log file which should be 88 lines long when complete. This approach is perhaps the easiest, and less taxing on the system..

Some SO searching gave me something like this:

function phgetlines ($file) {
$lines = 0;
$file = fopen( $file, 'r');
while( !feof( $file) {
    fgets( $file);
    $lines++;
}
fclose( $file);

return $lines;
}
