What steps will reproduce the problem?
- Setup Universal Media Server
- Make sure it's started and working fine on other DLNA client devices
- Try connecting to it using Windows Media Player and VLC Media Player.
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
In VLC Media Player, Select "Playlist" option > Local Network > Universal Plug N Play
On accessing this, you will be prompted by Windows Firewall to allow access to VLC, please accept it.
You will notice that Universal Media Server doesn't show up in the list as expected.
In Windows Media Player, it should appear in left-pane but it doesn't show up there either.
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
UMS 2.6.0
VLC 2.0.5
WMP 12 and 11.
Please provide any additional information below.
I found this relevant link in forum for WMP but it isn't confirmed that this is resolved.

I think enabling UPNP for WMP would enable it for VLC as well but that will need testing.
And I would like to take a chance to thanks for all the effort put in by you guys.
Awesome work!!!

Thanks for copying over my issue description here. This issue is still not resolved. I think it would work in VLC when we can browse Universal Media Server within Windows Explorer itself.
Right now it just shows root/root/root doesn''t matter how deep we go.
And no files are listed in WMP.

@starkwiz Hey no problem! we like this Issue tracker better ( i liek it becasue we can Tag people with the "@" sign :) )

Yes, the @ sign is cool to use.
Any idea when this issue will be fixed though ?
It seems UMS is not compatible with uPNP framework used by Windows.
If there are any changed made to dev builds related to this, I'll be happy to test it :)
Thanks for this great software. Love the way, it keeps improving. ;)

@starkwiz I don't know about the other developers but for me I don't think I will be working on it very soon. We are however very close to being finished with our web interface which will allow you to access your media via any web browser, so if your goal is to use UMS to serve to other computers in your network that could be an alternate solution.

@starkwiz please let me know when its ok to close this issue out.
