Is this a problem? What do you think the correct behavior should be? Or do you just want this documented in the README?

Yes, the more content the merrier.
I do think it is a good practice to always start with a link to the new page you are making. So right now that would probably just be a list of links on the Home page, I added a link to Common Errors as an example
