Done. It turns out this was due the fact that since UART2 is not defined in the DTS, the driver disables the clock to presumably save power. The only problem is that the host is trying to write post codes to UART2 when the bios is booting, and does not have any timeout - resulting in a hang on the first post code.
Enabling the clock in 380e72b solves the issue.
