There are multiple ways to tackle this:
- in trim detect that this is also going to intersect
0x2bf785b1...and cut it there. In that case, we'll let it extend to the other side, again, but we'll have to switch to using the"trimmed"geometry, instead of"geom"that we use now. - in extent detect that a new branch will be created and prevent that from happening.

We'll go with the second solution, taking into account that the cleanup step will remove that remaining common part between 0x33b638... and 0xb36d95fd....
