Reduced complexity is more important than the possible security enhancement of adding support for multiple algorithms. One of the reasons SSL suck is because it has too many options and is overly complex as a specification. BankAPI aims to be as simple as possible. And RSA is undoubtably secure enough. In addition to that, the OpenPGP is just one layer of security, on top of that you have the HTTP/SSL layer, for which you are free to use any algorithm you like.
