Could you tell me, which dali_backend
version are you using? Recently there was a enhancement for the backend behaviour after a fail. Could you please follow the docker build instructions and verify if the issue persists?

I test it on both tritonserver-20.10
and tritonserver-20.12
images which I believe already incorporate it.
Moreover, I build the docker image from the instructions above and I can verify that the issue still persists.
