Cannot detach/reattach? about tmate HOT 2 CLOSED

tmate does not support multi session yet on a given tmux server. This feature is on the roadmap.
Since we still want to launch multiple tmate session at the same time, the workaround I used was to launch multiple tmux servers. This is done by randomizing the tmux unix socket name. Indeed, if you launch a couple of tmate sessions, you will see a few sockets in /tmp/tmate-*.
This limitation will be removed in upcoming versions of tmate.

When you try to reattach to the tmate session, a new socket name is picked randomly so you don't conflict on an existing session. As a workaround, to be able to attach to an existing session, you have to specify the socket yourself. For example, if you wish to connect to a specific socket, you may use something like: tmate -S /tmp/tmate-1000/wQzSKz attach.

You can also name your sockets when creating a new session with the -S flag. For example:
If you launch a session with tmate -S /tmp/rails-project, you can detach, and then reattach with tmate -S /tmp/rails-project attach.
