Definitely worth considering.
Thinking out loud, I would want this to be something that's optional and off by default.
Figuring out how to present this nicely is a challenge too.

Right, but we need to consider that the average Shuttle user probably never uses this feature at all.
The ui control to adjust the speed should definitely be on the now playing screen, but only if it's enabled via settings.

I use it daily. IMHO it should be added on the screen of the current played track (better than in the general settings).
FYI AntennaPod also has this feature through its built-in player.
