@PCUser2021 It is generally considered rude to tell someone what to do with their project. You can request a feature and if the developer deems it suitable then they may implement it. But your tone was such that it was demanding something that most consider unnecessary for this tool. Git(hub) is built on the notion of collaboration so that anyone is free to write the code and share it back to the original repo (aka pull request or PR) and the wider community will benefit from the update. Therefore @mbonne was simply letting you know that if you really want a GUI then either ask and state your reasons why you want it, or code it yourself and share it back, which is what @timsutton has originally done with this project.

Thank you, but it's macOS, any Win version?

@PCUser2021 there is a common pitfall for non-native English speakers that let you appear rude when you did not intend to be. It is a perfect example of semantics not traded in word-by-word translations:

If e.g. your US-American boss asks a question starting with "Why don't you ..." this has to be understood as a clear order or command. There is nothing to be discussed here anymore. No one asked a question despite the question mark! Especially German engineers fall into that trap and drive their overseas superiors nuts trying to explain why not.

Conversely, if you start a sentence with "Why don't you ..." it might be that people will hear you barking at them like you are their boss - which you probably did not intend.

@JonnyTech heard your post this way and therefore states:

@PCUser2021 It is generally considered rude to tell someone what to do with their project.

I, therefore, recommend finding formulations that are easier to grok for native English speakers, like e.g. "I wonder if anyone had thought about an option to create a GUI for this project ..."

@PCUser2021 I have to add that your general behavior on GitHub needs revision.

Either

  • pay people to build software for you
  • do it yourself
  • ask nicely and hope they do it for free - but do not expect it

@PCUser2021 “Why don’t you update this app” isn’t even a good question. If there is no new features or still in development there’s no point in making a new version for it. Besides you could’ve asked it in a much nicer way. Honestly I’m surprised it’s isn’t closed yet, unless there is a GUI that’s currently in the works.

Someone's also built the Powershell version for Windows. I'm not aware of anyone who's built a GUI for Windows.
