As far as I can determine, pg_upgrade is supposed to have created those in your data directory (or possibly in your "current" directory when you ran the command which would be /var/lib/postgresql inside the pg_upgrade container, not entirely sure). I can't find a lot of documentation about those files, and even finding where in the source they're created was a bit hard.

Regardless, that's not really something specific to this image -- it's a general PostgreSQL problem (the output you've quoted above comes directly from pg_upgrade itself, not anything I've written in this image). This image only has something like 50 lines of unique source code total between the Dockerfile and the docker-upgrade script. 😅

I kept the container after upgrade, the analyze_new_cluster.sh will be written to work directory which is not mapped to local disk.

anyway it doesn't matter, we could manually run it using vacuumdb command

since the message is printed at the end of the upgrade, would be confusing for newbie like me doing the upgrade for the first time :)

For me on Mac OS using homebrew, my postgres install was located at /usr/local/var/postgres, and this script was located at /usr/local/var/log. Confusing as hell!
