I haven't tested that specific use case. If you do, please let me know.

From what I understood looking at the documentation, it runs each non-async def endpoint as an async task by wrapping it in it's own external threadpool (https://fastapi.tiangolo.com/async/#path-operation-functions).
So I'm not sure you can directly compare it to Falcon - not sure how Falcon handles endpoint requests (sync or async).

@wshayes is correct, non-async functions run in a threadpool and all the async benefits are still there.
Falcon is WSGI, so, it's not compatible with these async ideas (e.g. no WebSockets: https://falcon.readthedocs.io/en/stable/user/faq.html#does-falcon-support-websocket). Nevertheless, it has very high performance.
From what I understand, both should be on the same ballpark in terms of performance for that use case.
What you would get extra with FastAPI is all the data validation, serialization, documentation (all with standard Python types), dependency injection system, etc.

Assuming the original need was handled, this will be automatically closed now. But feel free to add more comments or create new issues or PRs.
