Is the slowdown that it takes time to generate or that the painting operation causes the animation to stutter?

I think this is a good use case but I don't think the default implementation is going to change. I'd be happy to link to a blog post if you want to write one up explaining how to do this. For now I'm closing the issue.

This is still helpful, FYI. QrImage seems to keep repainting when opened in Flutter Web and it destroys performance.
