Ahh! I have seen this before, and I think its a known bug in DNSLib 0.9.6. I stepped though this condition with a debugger and DNSLib will hang when reading from the socket - the socket timeout is ignored in some cases. I dug into DNSLib a bit - and this issue needs to be revisited.
In the condition you describe subbrute will perform 9 lookups from 9 different resolvers. I am open to suggestions on how to keep DNSLib from hanging - but really there should be an upstream patch.
