Collection not working inside virtual environment about ansible-multipass-collection HOT 2 CLOSED

Thanks for using this collection and reporting that issue. The problem seems to be at Ansible level. See:

In my case I was working in a venv in python and that caused Ansible to not find all it's python modules. Might not necessarily be the OP's issue here but it's worth being aware of.

However, there's a quick fix. Edit the ~/.ansible/collections/ansible_collections/theko2fi/multipass/plugins/modules/multipass_vm.py file on your host as below:

from ansible.module_utils.basic import AnsibleModule
- from ansible.errors import AnsibleError
from ansible_collections.theko2fi.multipass.plugins.module_utils.multipass import MultipassClient


multipassclient = MultipassClient()


def is_vm_exists(vm_name):
        vm_local = multipassclient.get_vm(vm_name=vm_name)
        try:
                vm_local.info()
                return True
        except NameError:
                return False
-        except Exception as e:
-                raise AnsibleError(str(e))

I will patch it in the next release. Consider giving the repo a star to stay updated on upcoming releases.

The patch has been published to Ansible Galaxy. You can upgrade the installed collection version with:

ansible-galaxy collection install --upgrade theko2fi.multipass
