Also on a macbook pro M1 ver 12.5.1 and I get no even message, Via opens and nothing displays.

The binary isn't signed, so MacOS won't let you open it with a double-click. To opened unsigned binaries, find the Via app on disk, control-click it and select "Open"
This is my first time using the Via software, so if it's been signed previously but the latest release is not signed, let me know!

@jkubicek thank you control click worked. I would love to understand more about code signing and what security implications this brings. I want to also install this on my work laptop to configure my micropad but this feels pretty insecure.

@stephanieraymos . It's not a security issue. It's just that for developers to release signed apps as a "verified developer" is a massive (and unnecessary) process. Just run apps that you trust.
Being a "verified developer" is more of a user experience consideration for a developer rather than a security implication.
