3. what is your procedure (command line) for launching the program?

Perhaps a cut and paste console log would be helpful, along with output from ls -la in the current directory before trying to run the program.

Thank you, but I already solved the problem. For some reason, the program wasn't creating the output directory and its files. I've added a mkdir() to the code and it worked.

I am running on Windows with Ubuntu Subsystem.

I'm running macOS 10.15.7. The make instructions worked fine.
before running one needs to

cd experiments
./create-dir-script
