The close event is only fired after you call close method on a connection. This is because of connection pool. When all the Tedious connections are closed, module is in idle state but not closed - once you create a new request, a new connection is created in the pool.

Patrik; thanks for your reply.

Hmm it seems like I've misunderstood how you/Tedious is managing the connection pools. If I understand correctly:

Each sql.Connection manages it's own pool of connections, creating them as sql.Requests are made against the connection?

This is opposed to the sql.Connection instances themselves being managed in a pool.

Correct?

Simply:

sql.Connection must be understood as a connection pool.
sql.Request must be understood as a physical connection acquired from the pool.
