I'm not sure what the benefit would be of having it global. To ensure it was actually defined you would still need to require that defined namespace in all your modules. Seems to make sense to just keep it a named define to namespace and then include it in your own projects with whatever namespace you want.

The point of AMD is to ensure dependencies are met and to track said dependencies. By introducing a global to reduce the requires, I'm afraid that goes against how AMD is designed.
