I got pyABF running on Python 2.7 without much headache. It ran on a fresh Anaconda installation with just numpy installed. I made the pyabf2 module which can be downloaded and imported by anyone wanting to use pyABF on Python 2.7: https://github.com/swharden/pyABF/tree/master/dev/python27_version/

The few code modifications related to removal of f-strings and a reference to a binary reader which changed from python 2 to 3. Advanced functions (e.g., memtest capacitance calculation?) may not work, but core ABF reading functions should be fine.

I think Python 3.6 should continue to be the minimum required version, and modern versions of numpy will also be coded against.

from pyabf.
