I can work around by introducing this class:

class MyTap(Tap):
    def __init__(self):
        super().__init__()
        self.post_configure()

    def _get_action(self, dest) -> argparse.Action:
        for action in self._actions:
            if action.dest == dest:
                return action
        raise KeyError(f"No action destined to {dest} found")

    def set_completer(self, dest: str, completer: Callable[[], List[str]]) -> None:
        self._get_action(dest).completer = completer

    def post_configure(self):
        """
        Can be use to add completers using self.set_completer calls.
        """
        pass

from typed-argument-parser.
