Can you go into more detail about why you need svelte.config.mjs? All SvelteKit projects should have "type": "module" in their package.json, which means that .js files would get treated as ESM.
We really don't want to encourage people to put this file in other places because there are other bits of tooling that also are looking for it in its one place, and they'd all need to be updated as well. We also definitely don't want to be encouraging people to write it in CJS.

Yeah the CJS part was on me.
