Would it be possible to host the examples somewhere online? I suspect it's related to something outside plugin since it wasn't working with an older version of jQuery, started working, and now isn't.

Have you tried using the latest version of the plugin, 1.0.1? Currently you're using 1.0.0 and for some reason the layout is getting triggered prior to all of the images loading in.
