Not quite so simple, as escaping the markup will defeat the purpose of extracting information. I'll have to thinly about it some more. Perhaps replacing some element names with something mor benign would do.

You would only have to escape it before you insert the markup in to the page. The browser will see the escaped html and render it correctly inside the textarea.
