make dmg is only creating a DMG, not copying files. If you copy files manually you need to manually run otool too so the rpaths are correct otherwise it won't work.
Seems you are missing both make install, make deploy and make deploycheck, so in your case no libraries are copied and no rpaths fixed unless you do it manually, so what's the point of running make dmg at all?
