I'm going to attempt this change. The issue described is a type mismatch error that occurs because the division operation in python 3 results in a float, even when both operands are integers. in cython, when you assign the result of the division to a variable of type usize_t, which is an unsigned integer type, it causes a compilation error because a float cannot be implicitly converted to an unsigned integer.

to fix this issue, we can use integer division (//) instead of the standard division (/). integer division will ensure that the result is an integer, which can then be safely assigned to a variable of type usize_t. this change should resolve the compilation errors without introducing any new bugs, as long as the intention of the original code was indeed to perform integer division.
