The fix has landed in v0.45.5. You can install it now using the installer script or from source. It may take some time to land in the various package managers, such as Homebrew.

Hi @deadda7a, thanks for filing this bug! I'm able to reproduce the bug, and I'm surprised it hasn't been discovered until now!
I found out the root cause and will have it fixed shortly. In the meantime, you should be able to work around it by running toast -s -f ./test.toast instead of toast -s -f test.toast.
