You are right, both zip release and branche for 4.0.1 refer to the same expected Go and build image versions. It must have been a glitch in my head telling me that 4.0.1 runs on gov1.20.3. I cannot trace the origins. Sorry about barking up the wrong tree!

I think, the situation you are observing is correct. Versions 4.0.0 and 4.0.1 run on Go 1.19.4, whereas 4.0.2 runs on 1.19.9. Note, that there is only one branch for the 4.0 version; the patches (4.0.z) are available as tags.

I hope my answer from #6246 provides some additional explanation.
