Actually, the 3.1 branch won't see any updates at all anymore. We consider
the 3.2 branch as a direct continuation, with no need for a further 3.1.x
release.

So not that I'm trying to shock you but... It's the 3.2 branch which will
only see scarce updates once 4.0 has gone GA :-)

It's probably worth pointing out that we currently already work fine with both 3.2 and 4.0 snapshots. It's just that the raise would allow us to clean up a few places that we had to tweak because of stuff that has not been back-ported to 3.1 (and thus also won't be going forward).
