Overview

The Eclipse Integration Common Components are a set of plugins and features that are used and consumed by other Eclipse tooling projects at SpringSource. It contains the commonly used parts and provides two individually installable features:

The Spring Dashboard feature brings you up-to-date information about Spring-related projects as well as an easy-to-use extension install to get additional tooling add-ons, like the famous Spring IDE or the Cloud Foundry Integration for Eclipse.

Both components are usually optional features of the other end-used-oriented tooling projects.

Installation

Usually you don't need to install these components directly from this project yourself. They come as part of Spring IDE, the tc Server integration, or the Cloud Foundry Integration for Eclipse.

However, if you want to install those features yourself, you could use the following update sites manually:

For Eclipse >= 4.7:

Developing Eclipse Integration Common Components

Just clone the repo and import the projects into an Eclipse workspace. The easiest way to ensure that your target platform contains all the necessary dependencies, install a CI build into your target platform and proceed.

Test dependencies

If you are not interested in building/running JUnit tests in your development environment then you can skip this step and just close/ignore any xxx.xxx.test plugins that have errors in them.

If you want to build and run tests inside of Eclipse then you'll need to add a few more things to your target platform:

Building Eclipse Integration Common Components

The Eclipse Integration Common Components project uses Maven Tycho to do continuous integration builds and to produce p2 repos and update sites. To build the project yourself, you can execute:

mvn -Pe47 -Dmaven.test.skip=true clean install

Could you please add Maven project Wizard under File -> New -> Maven project for Spring and Java perspective.

Eclipse JEE Kepler packaging already has m2e (Maven Integration for Eclipse), but quick link is only in JEE perspective.

cannot build for e37. Succeeded only with mvn -Pe42

(without -Dmaven.test.skip). Does README.md need update?

How to use the quick text search API to search the result in my plugin

hi Guys,
I'm also a eclipse plugin developer, now i need to search the whole workspace to get the result and then filter the result as I need .After i review the code from Quick Text search .I found if i can use this quick text search feature to search the result should be awesome .
but i really don't know how to use the quick text search API in my own plugin.
So Guys, could you tell me where can i use your own quick text search in my application .appreciated that very much .
and if possible i will under your application license for my plugin ...

Eclipse Quick Text Search can't find text after line longer than 1000 chars

Hi.
I have properties file with long lines.
If is line longer than 1000 chars, Quick Text Search can't find text behind this longer line.

For example my properties file:

Not able to use the update sites from Eclipse Mars

I tried all the following URLs:

But Eclipse either shows an empty list or gives the following error:

No software site found at http://dist.springsource.com/release/TOOLS/eclipse-integration-commons/e4.4. Do you wish to edit the location?

change keybinding for Quick Search

Ctrl+Shift+L shows list of shortcut
Ctrl+Shift+L twice shows Preferences > General > Keys

that is this standard binding is actually quite useful.

Make Quick Search dialog not modal

in Quick Search for Eclipse http://marketplace.eclipse.org/content/quick-search-eclipse
please make dialog not modal (and not close by default),
just like Ctrl+F in Eclipse or MS Word.

Also could it have option to push results to Eclipse Search View ?

is there a way to include in quick search also "derived resources"

[question] Is it possible to use Spring UAA plugin and server to collect non-Spring project usage data

To analyze IDE usage some data about every user usage paterns should be collected.
This functionality is common for any language, and usually is part of platform. However Eclipse has not yet.

Also some server side infrastructure is to be set-up.

Can I use Spring UAA to collect and share usage data to spring server.
All collected info is to be open and transparent.

Dashboard 3rd tab with configured plugin list

I would love to have STS Dashboard 3rd tab with content that can be configured for a team or organization.

By the way, current 2nd tab content is hosted on some non CDN resource, so I get sometimes empty list, or long (10-20 seconds) waiting.
