You'll want to append the following configuration option to $SPLUNK_HOME/etc/splunk-launch.conf:
OPTIMISTIC_ABOUT_FILE_LOCKING = 1

Manually applying OPTIMISTIC setting works good. But how to put this in docker-compose file or as a parameter?

@marcellodesales I guess you are using some kind of file system which is not supported by Splunk. See http://docs.splunk.com/Documentation/Splunk/latest/Installation/Systemrequirements#Supported_file_systems

@outcoldman That's true... So, maybe you can add a limitation in the README... I could properly launch it on Ubuntu!
