I couldn't reproduce it, or at least on UltraSonic.
Tried with a few files, some of them have tags but have nothing in the album field or in both artist and album fields. UltraSonic could display them without any problem.
The clients behavior you're describing makes me think this might be related to issue #6. Could you try it again now that this is fixed please?

Sorry for my late reply.
It is working now. And sorry again, it had nothing to do with supysonic... :) I'm managing my music collection with beets and beets set the album tag. I reset the album tag with an empty string and the tracks are shown now. I think I have to blame beets for this...
