This isn't a bug, you can hide it in the "Settings".

Despite you saying it isn't a bug, here's two reasons why I think it's undesirable, and therefore, a bug:

  • People aren't used to it. Everyone is used to the menu bar being hidden. If you make it visible now, people will be confused and ask how to hide it.
  • It's less realistic. Does the official Discord client have a title bar? I don't think so.

personally I prefer having the menu bar. maybe there is some way to modify the setting after installing the deb without opening the app?

It needs to be visible, some people might have an issues with the tray icon (eg. because of the poor implementation for the AppIndicator support) and this is the only way they could disable it... Also, not everyone remembers the [ALT] shortcut to access settings, which is also why I made it (the menu bar visibility) as the default setting. Anyway, I'm also the one who preffers it to be hidden, that's why I made this switch in the "Settings" menu...

Also, believe me or not, but this is the same way most Electron Web Apps behave (like Caprine for an example, which also has the "Settings" in it's menu bar).
