It looks like the only thing needed to support rhel8 platforms should be to specify a different service name. On Debian/Ubuntu platforms, the service name is chrony
, while on RHEL8 platforms, the service name appears to be chronyd
. I just ran into this while trying to build a new cookbook for our CentOS 8 installations. There is another cookbook, chrony-ntp
by samuel_bernard that makes this distinction, but I'd prefer to utilize the cookbook maintained by Chef.

@drockwood94 while true, the existing tests (e.g., inspec, test kitchen, and chefspec) and metadata do not reflect that CentOS and redhat are supported.
