Hi there šŸ‘‹

Last Updated: Monday, April 29th, 2024

I quit. because https://docs.github.com/en/account-and-profile/setting-up-and-managing-your-github-profile and my inability to read: smartishhome/smartishhome is a special repository: its README.md will appear on your profile!

I'm thinking I'll try to update the crap below as I realize just how bad it is... or more optimistically as I elaborate on existing thoughts and build out new topics that seem like they might explain how I got from Point A to Issue 7,982,637 to Solution 532,493,057 to Point X and why I'm still curious and learning.

Of course I could also just realize this is fucking git and I can just compare the current version with the past versions without all the ugliness................šŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļøšŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļøšŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļø

Today is Monday, April 29th, 2024 (To be used in the future to determine what day it was when my ADHD was fixated on github ever so briefly to at least get this far.)

  • šŸŒ± Iā€™m currently learning... the basics... while also learning how to hack my smarthome and automation tasks. I have a lot more to learn.
  • As an example, I use github but have almost no clue how to do much more than read a README or copy a raw link (assuming I don't have to navigate around to find that link).

Consider this page an attempt at trying to learn github again. And then reconsider that because the longer I sit here the more I can conceive of this page doing - namely to begin to develop a timeline and reasoning for the things I have began to learn and maybe even the reasons why I still haven't finished learning enough about certain topics to be able to say I understand/remember enough of the basics without laughing at the absurdity of such a ridiculous assertion. And then I just realized that I shouldn't be doing this without spellcheck...

In the past, I've started to learn things like:

  • Markdown and GitHub's particular variation of Markdown (which I am noting because I realize that this looks like crap but I'd rather write than worry about formatting (which is ironic because my understanding of markdown is to actually allow people to write without having to worry about formatting and here I am saying to hell with markdown cause thats just something else I'd have to stop and re-learn))
  • Linux
  • VBA
  • All the things involved in self-hosting
    • Hubitat (before SmartThings and deciding I couldn't handle issues with non-local smarthome control, before that IFTTT was the only way I knew of to allow for cross-platform smarthome automations outside of the Harmony Hub, before the Harmony I just had a few Philips Hue light bulbs, a Hue motion sensor and a Hue dimmer which I had made much more useful with an app called iConnectHue but before that I just used the Hue app and before that I didn't have smart lights because I was young enough to see well enough in the dark that I didn't want lights that could turn on at varying levels of brightness and in different colors depending on the time of the day and my mood)

The above actually says a lot about me. If it doesn't make sense, either it displays my ignorance, the wild tangents I can get started on and then forget about for months, or it would make more sense if you just got to know me a little bit.
