"Just for the record, I'd be able to include the mechanism to calculate the pencil beams and the GUI. The particular beamlets' or pencil beams' profile should be precalculated or given by the user for a certain modality (photons or protons), as well as the dose calculation algorithm that will give the weights for each beamlet. All this process is very close to what it is described here in this article:
