We use TvDB as our thumbnail source, and will be using TMDB in the future. If you don't have and/or don't want to enable TvDB auto linking (or manually link your collection) to TvDB, then you can alternatively enable the embedded image extractor and/or screen grabber sources for episode images. You can also just enable them to generate the image thumbnails for any and all episodes that don't have a TvDB in Shoko regardless.
I'm marking this as completed, believing your query has been addressed. However, feel free to reopen the issue if you feel otherwise, or continue commenting – even while it's closed – if you have further questions on the subject. Please note, response times on GitHub can vary, and immediate responses like this one are not the norm. For more immediate assistance, I recommend our discord server. If for any reason you prefer not to use Discord, you're welcome to continue communicating via GitHub, just bear in mind it may be a slower and more asynchronous process. (I was able to respond promptly this time as I happened to be reviewing the repository and noticed the increased issue count.)
