What kind of surface are you using? DrawingSurface or DrawingSurfaceBackground?
It is quite impossible from this description to make a diagnostic that would link this to a wrong behavior of the Toolkit in SharpDX. You need to isolate it with a simple test case and project it here

Concerning the crash report, if you could check it with DrawingSurface and see if it generates the same kind of crash reports. I personnally recommend to use DrawingSurface instead of DrawingSurfaceBackground, even if it is very slightly less efficient, you have a real control on the device created, unlike DrawingSurfaceBackground.

I have to reopen this because there are so many crashes reported, yet there are is noone complaining. At the same time, the app gets rejected from Windows 8 store because of the phantom crashes.

Ohh, I forgot to mention that it is unrelated to the type of drawing surface used.
I considered it to be a dev center bug because there are days with 0 crashes (and days with 200+ crashes).

I really can't do anything about this, as I have no way to reproduce it. If these crashes don't appear in the application, we can't easilly debug them, and because It is outside some .NET code, this could be some bug in the CLR. You should probably try to contact/get some help from Microsoft to debug this.
