@NotBrianZach thanks for these thoughts. I somehow missed this when you made it, but found it again today.
I'm watching Domen's talk right now. It's good.
I might see if I can fit the "./." comment in there. I just need to find the right wording without it feeling like too much of an aside.
Also, thanks for pointing out that Spacemacs doesn't actually update that frequently. I just looked at the logs for "master," and I can see your point. I just assumed it updated more frequently, but I guess it doesn't. I'm going to switch to the other branch myself, test it out a little, and probably make some recommendation as you suggest in the tools/README.org file.
