Servo needs rust installed via rustup, so it can automagically get rustc version that it supports. Also you need to run ./mach bootstrap and you should need to activate python venv as mach should do that for you. Please follow instructions at https://github.com/servo/servo#linux step by step.
sidenote: I suspect mach keeps running even when some fatal errors occur.
