ESR does sound like the way to go.

Given that I'm writing a runtime, my perspective on this is slightly different. It would be really nice to be able to release a version with, for example, the top level await stabilised in SM 97 or WebAssembly Garbage Collection stabilised in SM 111, and get the intermediate performance improvements.
I fully understand that every other embedding of spidermonkey uses the ESRs, but I'm not sure that's the best approach for my project at the least.
This does rely on this set of bindings being reliably and consistently upgraded though, which hasn't been the case for some time now.
