This system makes use of emerging technologies such as IoT sensors around the home and adopts an anthropomorphic humanoid robot (Pepper model v20 from SoftBank) to improve social interaction for older people with the aim of addressing social exclusion and reduce depression. Use of affordable technology such as Raspberry Pi’s to integrate ubiquitously into the HDMI slot of a user’s Television Unit and with the use of voice interaction to communicate with a digital companion. With social media integration it can initiate and hold conversation based on your feed as well as give you updates on the news, weather and tell jokes. Pepper the robot asks you about your day and monitors the user's mood providing useful data for GP's and psychiatrists. Use of IoT sensors in and around the home that provide a “remote carer” with daily statistics that measure and track metrics such as temperature, light, movement and door sensors.
