The referenced board repository was changed 2 days ago, and no longer references ESP32-S3-DevKitC-1-N16R8 but replaced with

Perhaps freeze certain dependencies otherwise builds are at the mercy of changes outside the author's control

I have pinned it, possible changes now have no effect. Unfortunately the repository https://github.com/platformio/platform-espressif32 does not work with IDF 5.1 or higher.

Unfortunately it's been pinned to the latest release which refers to 4d_systems_esp32s3_gen4_r8n16.json
rather than ESP32-S3-DevKitC-1-N16R8

What is missing is the file ..../.../platformio/packages/framework-arduinoespressif32/package.json. Strange. Try deleting the .platformio/packages folder. The folder is automatically recreated. Is the json file then available?
