perhaps the information in issue-Codeplex040 might explain the problem

to allow more analysis on this issue, the debug-output files are needed

• execute sbfspot (smaspot) with the options -d5 -v5 and redirect the std-out and std-err to a file
  the command looks then like
  smaspot -d5 -v5 1>std-out.tst1.txt 2>std-err.tst1.txt

the details in these file include the "binary coded" interaction with the inverter and are needed
to evaluatie the origin of the problem,
the info will also include some more info about your inverter, eg software version of your inverter
this info might allow to understand on which conditions the issue does appear

No it doesn't. It was the first thing I tried, recompiling smaspot with the bug fix, but it isn't related.

I can confirm that this issue was resolved with the release of SBFspot v3.
