The most crucial callback to implement is onStart
so you definitely need to do something there. Please read the documentation (here) which says:
onStart (required) is an asynchronous function that is called in response to AudioService.start. It is responsible for starting audio playback and should return a Future that completes when the background task has completely finished playing audio and is ready to be permanently shut down. After the task has completed, a new task may still be started again via AudioService.start.
Take a look at the example app's onStart
callback to see an example of how you could start audio playback. From the example, you can see that here is where you call any arbitrary API of your choosing to play audio.
I know there are a lot of pieces that need to fall in place, but just be sure to read the documentation for the key API calls that you intend to use.
