"SimpleMarkup" is what RDoc markup syntax is called, or at least it used to be. See http://rdoc.sourceforge.net/doc/files/markup/simple_markup_rb.html

I like Markdown for its backticks, and very much wish RDoc had them.
I like RDoc for its definition lists, term:: definition and wish Markdown had them.

It would be rocking if we could manage some cross-pollination.
