same error for RN 0.65.1

Which gradle version are you using.
In the past this problem most times was related to certain gradle versions

I tried these versions;
com.android.tools.build:gradle:4.2.1 or 4.2.2
&
distributionUrl=https\://services.gradle.org/distributions/gradle-6.9-all.zip
from react-native-blob-util.

I tried with gradle-6.8.3 and I can succesfully built the project.
There is a problem with 6.9 and maybe higher versions

Okay, I'm glad you found a way to get it working.
But I'm sorry I probably won't be able to check what's wrong with gradle 6.9 in the next few weeks

Thanks @zxcpoiu, #77 solves the issue,
But I still cannot upgrade to 0.66 because of another problem that is not about blob-util.
