One possible problem for you to check out: Maybe the automatic domain name configuration fails. Try and set SRS_DOMAIN parameter in /etc/default/postsrsd.

I had the same problem. Turns out the file in /etc/default/postsrsd needs to set some variables. It looks like the makefile in this repo creates a working version, but I first installed the package as set up at https://launchpad.net/~roehling

That version installed basically an empty file (just comments). Reinstalling using a clone of this repo didn't help so I had to manually change the file to make things working.

Thanks hepabolu. I can confirm that setting SRS_DOMAIN in /etc/default/postsrsd is sufficient to get everything working.

@hepabolu Yeah, the file is not overwritten by the installer, because it did not want to inadvertently obliterate the user configuration on update. In this case, that's obviously a problem.
