Area is not implemented / Wrong documentation about rgeo HOT 4 CLOSED

After installing libgeos, you have to reinstall rgeo.

You need libgeos installed and properly connected up from RGeo for the area method to work.

See the README for info on installing GEOS.

What if I can call the #area method in IRB, but not inside Rails?
What could then be the issue?

area works in IRB after require 'rgeo':

But fails in Rails (after require 'rgeo' at top of the controller):

Running on Ubuntu 20, and installed the libgeo* mentioned in the readme.

EDIT: Looks like it was a Ruby version mismatch, IRB was running a different Ruby version.
