Can you verify that you have libgeos installed, and what version it is?

@gerner: You need to have libgeos 3.2 or later (3.3 is preferred). 3.1 isn't supported.

@frugardc: Were you able to work out what you were running into?

I'm going to close this since I haven't heard back from @frugardc. My guess is that you need to upgrade your libgeos to 3.2 or later. Feel free to reopen if you're still having problems.

I'm not deeply familiar with gem install process, but is checking that libgeos 3.2+ is installed a possibility?
